Tour Itinerary

4-day Easy Rider motorbike itinerary from Sapa to Hanoi through the spectacular Northwest Highlands. This route covers approximately 450 kilometers of winding mountain passes, terraced rice valleys, and authentic ethnic minority villages, concluding with a highway run back to the capita. This 4-day Sapa "Easy Rider" (or self-ride) motorbike itinerary takes you through the spectacular roof roads of Northern Vietnam, descending past cascading rice terraces, deep valleys, and lush tea plantations before riding back to Hanoi
Day 1: Sapa to Than Uyen (approx. 100 km) ) L, D )
Your Easy Rider rider will pick you up at your Sapa hotel to begin the climb into the heavens.
  • Morning: Conquer the magnificent O Quy Ho Pass, one of Vietnam's four great mountain passes. You will ride along cliffs over 2,000 meters high with panoramic views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
  • Afternoon: Descend into the smooth, rolling hills of Binh Lu and Tam Duong. Pass through vast green tea plantations and stop at local ethnic villages (such as the Lu or Lao groups, known for their distinct black-tinted teeth). Arrive in the quiet town of Than Uyen. Check into a local guesthouse, enjoy a traditional dinner with your rider, and experience a town untouched by mass tourism.
Day 2: Than Uyen to Mu Cang Chai (approx. 60 km)( B, L, D )
A shorter riding day designed to give you maximum time to explore the world-famous rice terraces.
  • Morning: Cruise along Highway 32 through scenic valleys and rivers. You will pass from Lai Chau province into Yen Bai province, arriving in Mu Cang Chai by lunchtime.
  • Afternoon: Head straight to the most iconic viewpoints. Your Easy Rider will take you up the steep, narrow tracks to Mam Xoi (Sticky Rice Tray) Hill and La Pan Tan village for jaw-dropping views of the sculpted hillsides. Stay overnight in a traditional stilt house homestay run by the Thai or Hmong people in Kim Noi village. Enjoy a home-cooked feast and local corn wine.
Day 3: Mu Cang Chai to Nghia Lo (approx. 100 km)( B, L, D )
Today features dramatic altitude shifts and vast valley vistas.
  • Morning: Mount your bike to climb the legendary Khau Pha Pass. This pass is often shrouded in clouds and overlooks the stunning Tu Le Valley. Stop at the top to watch paragliders (if local clubs are flying) and enjoy hot sticky rice in Tu Le town.
  • Afternoon: Ride through the rugged, sweeping curves of the mountain side before descending into the flat, expansive Muong Lo Valley, the second-largest valley in the Northwest. Arrive in Nghia Lo town. You can relax your muscles by visiting a local hot spring stream in Hock Village or explore the peaceful Thai ethnic hamlets on foot.
Day 4: Nghia Lo to Hanoi (approx. 190 km) ( B, L )
The final leg transitions from remote highlands back into the energetic buzz of the capital.
  • Morning: Say goodbye to the high mountains. Ride past the lush tea hills of Thanh Son in Phu Tho province. The roads here flatten out but remain highly scenic as you trace the paths of local rivers.
  • Afternoon: Stop for lunch near the historic town of Son Tay. Complete the final stretch on the highway, crossing the Red River as you make your triumphal entry back into Hanoi. Your Easy Rider drops you off directly at your Hanoi hotel, marking the end of your epic loop. END THE TOUR .

  • Gear: Bring a lightweight jacket (even in summer, mountain passes get chilly) and a reliable rain poncho.
  • Safety: Easy Riders are highly experienced professionals who handle these technical mountain roads daily. Sit back, relax, hold onto the side grips, and enjoy the scenery.
